Changing Our Band name

We decided to change our band name to 'NOVA'. We felt that 'Cθmpound 98' was too long of a name, with too many standout elements (the inclusion of both letters and numbers and the incorporation of the Greek letter 'θ'). We wanted something simpler. We discovered the word 'nova' by, again, using a word generator. Nova is defined as a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness, which we felt was a fitting name for a rising musical artist, showing them to be 'bright' and, therefore, special, inspirational and beautiful, this helps to create a 'star image' for our artist.

Another influential factor when choosing this name was our decision for our artist to be a single person rather than a band. Many artists use their regular names, for example, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé, however, we felt that our own names were too bland and wouldn't evoke intrigue from our target audience. So, we took inspiration from artists that use single words or made up names, for example, FOXES and Lorde. We liked that these names were concise and easy to remember, this would help audiences to remember our artist, helping us to gain more success.

We decided to capitalise our name to make it stand out, having a larger impact on our audience and making us more memorable. We were inspired by many artists, such as, AURORA, ABBA and AWOLNATION.
